Jesus thanks the Father because in His sovereign will He chose to reveal Himself to those who are weak and unwise, who comes to Him by faith.
Our Lord explains how this revelation of God is to be revealed. It is only through Christ.
Having proven that it is only by Christ that God is revealed to us (contrast to legalistic judaism) He now invites us to come to Him and find rest in His person and work.
