Paul's initial command: carefully supervise your walk. You walk should not be foolish. Your walk should be wise. How do accomplish this task? By buying back the time. And the reason for this (either for the command to carefully supervise your walk or for the need to buy back the time) is that the days are evil. So either: you must buy back the time because the days are evil, OR, you must carefully supervise your walk because the days are evil. Because of this: Now e have two couplets which each contains two commands (four commands total) that explain the logical and biblical results of this reality (that the days are evil or that the time must be bought back). Because you must buy back the time, you should: 1A: not be foolish, 1B: but seek to discern God's will. 2A: Not be drunk with wine 2B: Be filled with the Spirit
