"Dead in trespasses and sins" and the resulting bondage to wrath as our nature, appears to be a clear action and result requiring no further explaination. Yet Paul's desire appears to be to clarify just how deep this walk in death is. He shows us as ones fastened to the "prince of the power of the air." The only desires expressed as being a part of us are those bound to the body and mind - internally motivated and thereby placing ourselves before God. As with all of the rest of mankind, this is a result of our nature, we pursue the flesh with passion and thereby earn God's wrath. (Ps 51)

carrying out the desires of the body and the mind,
and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
