I am not sure it is a true bi-lateral but I was taught by Dr. Thomas Schreiner or seems to see bilaterals everywhere. LOL. The two reasons for loving one another is: 1) because you were saved (purified) for this purpose (v22) 2) you were born again by the imperishable seed. (23-25) As I am going through preaching this I am having a difficult time finding how the "being born again of imperishable seed" relates to the command to love. I get that believers ought to love but what specifically about being born by imperishable seed ought to motivate a fervent love of one another?
