Main point summary
God is love and he has proved it to us and it should be demonstrated by us who claim faith in Him.
1 John 4:13-21
s By this we know that we abide in him and he in us,
We can know that we have our being controlled by God
because he has given us of his Spirit.
By us possessing his Spirit
And t we have seen and testify
and having the testimony
that u the Father has sent his Son
that God has sent Jesus
to be the Savior of v the world.
with the purpose that Jesus would be the Savior of the world
w Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God,
Therefore those confessions Jesus is the Son of God
God abides in him,
God is actually in that person
and he in God.
and that person is in God
So x we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us.
Therefore we can perceive God's very love for us.
y God is love,
This is because God himself is the very essence of love and love is defined by God's character.
and z whoever abides in love
when are loves are saturated with love
abides in God,
we are in union with God
and God abides in him.
and God is in union with us
By this a is love perfected with us,
our union shows that love is manifested mightily
so that b we may have confidence for the day of judgment,
for the purpose of being positively certain in our right standing with God when the time for judgement comes.
because c as he is so also are we in this world.
we can have this certainty because we have a character like his
There is no fear in love,
This love from God isn't trepidatious
but d perfect love casts out fear.
on the contrary God's love banishes trepidation.
For fear has to do with punishment,
because trepidation is looking for punitive measures
and whoever fears has not a been perfected in love.
therefore anyone afraid of punitive measures has not been changed by the affection of God
e We love
We are loving in nature
because he first loved us.
because God acted first by loving us.
f If anyone says,
Therefore if anyone utters,
“I love God,”
"I have a deep affection for God"
and g hates his brother,
and alternatively disdains his fellow believer
he is a liar;
then he isn't telling the truth
for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen
because if you don't show affectionate favor for your brother who is tangible and clearly visible,
cannot 1 love God h whom he has not seen.
then it's impossible that you are deeply affectionate about God who is invisible
And i this commandment we have from him:
also God has instructed us:
j whoever loves God must also love his brother.
that if we love God we also are supposed to love our fellow believers.
Our very creator is the epitome of love. All that He is and all that He does embody what true love does.
God's love for us is shown by us having His Spirit and believing in Jesus
Every time I look affectionately at another human being it is evidence of God's love for me :)
Because God is love and we abide in Him, we also will display the same character ourselves.
