Jeremiah 2:2-13
(g) Micah 4:5 In contrast to the pantheon available to the nations, the people of God walk together, united to their King and under his law and word (v. 2) in unending relationship.

This idea here is the same with v. 11
For EMPHASIS read the notes.
“Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem, Thus says the Lord ,
“I remember the devotion of k your youth,
your love l as a bride,
m how you followed me in the wilderness,
n in a land not sown.
o Israel was holy to the Lord , p the firstfruits of his harvest.
q All who ate of it incurred guilt; disaster came upon them, declares the Lord .”
Hear the word of the Lord , O house of Jacob, and all the clans of the house of Israel.
Thus says the Lord : r “What wrong did your fathers find in me
that they went far from me,
s and went after t worthlessness,
and became worthless?
They did not say,
u ‘Where is the Lord
who brought us up from the land of Egypt,
who led us v in the wilderness, in a land of deserts and pits, in a land of drought and deep darkness, in a land that none passes through, where no man dwells?’
w And I brought you into a plentiful land to enjoy its fruits and its good things.
But when you came in, x you defiled my land and made my heritage an abomination.
The priests did not say,
‘Where is the Lord ?’ y Those who handle the law did not know me; z the shepherds 1 transgressed against me; a the prophets prophesied by Baal and went after b things that do not profit.
“Therefore c I still contend with you, declares the Lord , and d with your children’s children I will contend.

g Has a nation changed its gods,
h even though they are no gods?
But my people i have changed their glory for b that which does not profit.
Be appalled, j O heavens, at this;
be shocked,
be utterly desolate,
declares the Lord ,
for my people have committed two evils:
k they have forsaken l me, the fountain of m living waters,
and hewed out cisterns for themselves,
broken cisterns that can hold no water.

Base on your corrections kuya, I think I will change it into this:
1. 5b-5d is the IDEA and 6-8 is the explanation
2. 6a is the IDEA and 6b-6d is the explanation
3. 6,7&8 are three part series.
4. Could it be possible to make (2b-8) & (9) & (10-13) BILATERAL
Brent Karding
1. Do you mean 5a to 5d? I still like your Negative-Positive in 5a-d and 6a-8b.
2. Good.
3. I like this, too!
4. Yes, I think that would work. 2b-8 and 10-13 both support 9, so that's a good analysis.
Mildred Queenie CS
Wow. Thank you kuya. I will add the new arc that is corrected based on your feedback.
Brent Karding
This is a very good arc, Mildred! I've listed a few improvements below. But you made many, many good relationship choices throughout this passage.
Mildred Queenie CS
Thank you so much kuya.
Brent Karding
Lastly, it would be better to divide 13b in two, to make its structure the same as 13c-d. Both are Id-Exp.
Mildred Queenie CS
Is it so that 13b and 13cd could be parallel kuya? Or that it would be shown having similar pattern?
Brent Karding
Well, "the fountain of living waters," even though it's not a proposition with a verb, could possibly be divided and labelled Id-Exp - it could go either way!

But why I think it should be divided is because 13c-d is clearly an Id-Exp that should be divided, and the Explanation mentions "water." So you would have two Explanations, both talking about water, both contrasting each other a "fountain" beside "broken cisterns." I think that has enough value that 13b should be divided into two pieces, to show that contrast in the text.

Does that explanation help more?
Mildred Queenie CS
I understand now kuya.
Brent Karding
It would be better to make 7a-b the Concessive, not including 6c-d. That's not part of the "even though," since it is God's critique.
Brent Karding
7a shouldn't be the part of the Progression. 6c-d are clearly a Progression, describing the Exodus, both starting with the relative pronoun "who." But 7a is different, beginning with "and," and because it is a description of Israel by the Lord, not giving what Israel did not say, as in 6b-c.

Thus the Explanation following the Idea of 6b should stop in 6d.
Mildred Queenie CS
This part is hard kuya.
Brent Karding
Yes, it is. :) I'll try to say it in a different way: 7a can't be part of a Progression with 6c and 6d, since 6b-d is a quotation, and 7a is outside that quotation.
Mildred Queenie CS
It’s my first time to learn about considering quotation marks also kuya. I’ll bear that in mind.
Brent Karding
Good choice for Concessive in the relationship between 2b-3 and 4-8.
Mildred Queenie CS
Brent Karding
I suggest that the second half of the text begins in 9, not in 10. That's

1) There is another quotation formula, "declares the LORD." (Yes, there are others, like in 3b and 5a; however, this is more significant - see the next point.)
2) The Ground that begins in 10a doesn't support all of 2b-9, but only 9. It gives the reason why God will "still contend" with Israel, which starts in 9.
Brent Karding
I like how your Explanation includes all of 2b-13d.
Mildred Queenie CS
I was not sure about it brother. Nice one
