What do I do when there are real enemies, and I am afraid? One thing I notice in David that is quite different from me is David's assurance that his enemies will be defeated, turned back. Enemies, for David, were not to be put up with, but destroyed. There is something there for me to learn. What an intimate picture of God's care is captured in vs. 8-9. God sees all, cares enough to store tears, records it all. And that sense of being known by God gives David confidence that his enemies will be turned back. Perhaps because of the repeated phrase (vs. 3-4; vs. 10-11), this Psalm seems more song like. I'm sure that is me reading into it, but it has the feel of 1st verse (1-4) 2nd verse, (5-7) Bridge (8-9), repeat chorus of 1st verse (10-11), closing (12-13)
