Παῦλος καὶ Τιμόθεος δοῦλοι Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ

Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,

πᾶσιν τοῖς ἁγίοις ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ τοῖς οὖσιν ἐν Φιλίπποις

To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi,

σὺν ἐπισκόποις καὶ διακόνοις,

with the overseers and deacons:

χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη

Grace to you and peace

ἀπὸ θεοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν

from God our Father

καὶ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ.

and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Εὐχαριστῶ τῷ θεῷ μου ἐπὶ πάσῃ τῇ μνείᾳ ὑμῶν

I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,

πάντοτε ἐν πάσῃ δεήσει μου ὑπὲρ πάντων ὑμῶν,

always in every prayer of mine for you all

μετὰ χαρᾶς τὴν δέησιν ποιούμενος,

making my prayer with joy,

ἐπὶ τῇ κοινωνίᾳ ὑμῶν εἰς τὸ εὐαγγέλιον

because of your partnership in the gospel

ἀπὸ τῆς πρώτης ἡμέρας ἄχρι τοῦ νῦν,

from the first day until now.

πεποιθὼς αὐτὸ τοῦτο,

And I am sure of this,

ὅτι ὁ ἐναρξάμενος ἐν ὑμῖν ἔργον ἀγαθὸν ἐπιτελέσει

that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion

ἄχρι ἡμέρας Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ•

at the day of Jesus Christ.

Καθώς ἐστιν δίκαιον ἐμοὶ τοῦτο φρονεῖν ὑπὲρ πάντων ὑμῶν

It is right for me to feel this way about you all,

διὰ τὸ ἔχειν με ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ ὑμᾶς,

because I hold you in my heart,

ἔν τε τοῖς δεσμοῖς μου

for you are all partakers with me of grace,[in my imprisonment]

καὶ ἐν τῇ ἀπολογίᾳ

both in my imprisonment [and in the defense]
