Don't Desert Jesus
Galatians 1:6-10
Still a work in progress, but I think that this passage is getting at the Staggering idea of leaving the true gospel and going elsewhere.

Still a work in progress, but I think that this passage is getting at the Staggering idea of leaving the true gospel and going elsewhere. The whole section is about Paul's astonishment that the churches would desert, not jus tthe gospel, but him (who called you), namely Jesus. They are deserting Christ and that is reason for strong language, hence using the word accursed. This is a serious thing. Another idea that is beign expounded on is the validity of Paul's gospel. That also runs through this section as well as the subsequent validity of Paul's apostleship. It seems like these are the three main ideas of the passage: 1. Paul is a true apostle 2. His gospel is the only gospel there is 3. The thought of forsaking this gospel is of utmost concern

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ
and are turning to a different gospel--
not that there is another one,
alternative
but there are some who trouble you
and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you,
let him be accursed.
conditional
As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received,
let him be accursed.

For am I now seeking the approval of man,
ἢ τὸν θεόν;
or of God?
ἢ ζητῶ ἀνθρώποις ἀρέσκειν;
Or am I trying to please man?

I would not be a servant of Christ.
