Keeping the Main Point, the Main Point
Εὐχαριστοῦμεν ("We give thanks") is where everything flows from in this passage. Even when we get to v.8 and v.9, they start with γὰρ ("for") which supports what precedes it (Runge, 51-54, 2010). So, what we can see here is that all the (beautiful) information given throughout this passage is in light of Paul's thanksgiving to God for the Thessalonian believers. Have we recognized before God in Thanksgiving the brothers and sisters that God has placed in our lives? Do we do this constantly?
Explanation of Features
I've decided against doing genitive phrases personally. So, that is why you won't see any. I've also changed up some things from the phrasing class that helps me. So, I'll explain them. I don't do genitive phrases. I use yellow arrows for prepositional phrases. I use orange arrows for participles. I use red arrows for subordinate clauses (e.g. ὅτι clauses) Appositional phrases I use an arrow instead of a subordinate phrase arrow. I use some other terms from discourse features that I find helpful (e.g. Thematic Address) I use a lot of the boxes to show the chunks of thought and use them to show the same relationships (e.g. Green for a grounding/supporting function). Hopefully this helps to explain my personalizing some certain features within the phrasing module. Note: Josue, I guess I just have the rebellious nature still. ;)

phrasing
ἐκλογή ("Chosen") as a direct object of a verb -- The Two Sided Coin
I found this to be a cool nugget. I searched everytime that ἐκλογή ("chosen") was used as the object of the verb. 2 Hits. Here in 1 Thessalonians and one other time in 2 Peter 1:10. διὸ μᾶλλον , ἀδελφοί, σπουδάσατε βεβαίαν ὑμῶν τὴν κλῆσιν καὶ ἐκλογὴν ποιεῖσθαι · ταῦτα γὰρ ποιοῦντες οὐ μὴ πταίσητέ ° ποτε . Therefore, brothers, 7 be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. God Chose us. We confirm our election through practicing righteousness and holiness.

Josue, I guess I just have the rebellious nature still.
I like what you did.
What is a thematic address?
Ryan Robinson
Thematic Address—The use of vocatives or nominatives of address containing extra descriptive information that is either not required to identify the addressee(s). The information has the effect of characterizing the addressee(s), based upon how the speaker conceives of them.

Thanks Ryan!

I like how you've "personalized" the phrasing method that we were taught. The whole point is not to become a slave to a method, but to allow the method to help us unpack the text. Your personalizing helps you do that, so I applaud you for that.

Question:  How do you do the colored boxes? I like that.
Ryan Robinson
Thanks for the kind words!

Pertaining to how to use the boxes, it is under the "Arrow+" section in editing mode. On the far left you can click "New Box". One of my favorite things actually.
Charlotte Flowers
Thank you!
