James 1:2-4
e Count it all joy, my brothers, 1
when you meet trials f of various kinds,
for you know that g the testing of your faith h produces steadfastness.
And let steadfastness have its full effect,
that you may be i perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
To our surprise, God teaches that hard times are not a punishment but a blessing. We ought to be grateful to God for the 'trials' he sends us. Ehy? Because through them, He is bringing about our steadfastness and satisfaction. Steadfastness means increased faith. The more we trust God in hard times, the more we trust God wholeheartedly. Our satisfaction comes through realising that God is enough. Tough times revealed to us that Christ is of greater value to us than comfort.
