Main point summary
We rejoice in what is and is to come, because, through faith, the Holy Spirit has revealed the depth of God's peace and love towards us in Christ. More specifically, our faith is rooted in the understanding that we have been purchased by the death of His Son, the punishment for our sin has been laid upon Christ, and reconciliation, righteousness and fellowship have been afforded to us because of Christ's willing sacrifice.
a Therefore, since we have been justified by faith ,
BECAUSE we have been saved by faith
b we 1 have peace with God
THEREFORE, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ.
BY the atoning work of Christ
Through him we have also c obtained access by faith 1 into this grace
AS A RESULT, we have gained the ability to have fellowship with and blessing from God
d in which we stand,
RESULTING IN our actual possession of it
and e we 2 rejoice 3 in hope of the glory of God.
THEREFORE, we are filled with joy as people who have peace and fellowship with God that God will keep us to the end displaying His glory
Not only that,
AS A RESULT, our joy is NOT just fixated on the coming glory
but we f rejoice in our sufferings,
BUT we also are filled with joy now as we suffer/are persecuted
knowing that suffering g produces endurance,
BECAUSE we know that suffering helps us persevere
and endurance produces character,
THEN persevering builds up holiness
and character produces hope ,
THEN holiness assures us that God will keep us till the end
and h hope does not put us to shame,
BUT our assurance that God will always be for us will not result in shame
because God’s love i has been poured into our hearts
BECAUSE we know who this very God is and how much He loves us
through the Holy Spirit
BY the testimony of the Spirit
who has been given to us.
IN OTHER WORDS, He has given us the Holy Spirit as a seal/consideration/sign of assurance of His love for us
For j while we were still weak,
FOR WHEN we were weak
at the right time
AND WHEN it was the correct moment
k Christ died for the ungodly.
Christ died for sinners
For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—
WHAT I MEAN IS that someone will rarely die for someone good
though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—
EVEN THOUGH sometimes this happens
but l God shows his love for us
BUT God proves His love for us
in that m while we were still sinners,
EVEN THOUGH we are sinners/not good
Christ died for us.
BY sending His Son to die for us
Since, therefore, n we have now been justified by his blood,
AS A RESULT, BECAUSE we are justified by the death of Christ
much more shall we be saved by him from o the wrath of God.
THEREFORE, we shall not suffer the wrath of God
For if p while we were enemies
BECAUSE IF, WHEN we were haters (as ppl disobedient to the law)
q we were reconciled to God
God still brought us to Himself
by the death of his Son,
BY Christ's sacrifice
much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by r his life.
THEN, now as people who love God and are brought to God, we live liberated in our identification with Christ's resurrection!
More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
AS A RESULT, not only are we saved, but we are now full of joy and able to worship God properly (without fear of wrath)
through whom we have now received s reconciliation.
BECAUSE in Christ, we have been reconciled to God
No distinction - love poured into our hearts is the same as the Holy Spirit given to us. God's love manifests itself in our possession of His Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit testifies to us that God loves us.
1) We have peace with God 2) We are filled with joy at the assurance that God will accomplish His purposes 3) We are filled with joy because God seeks to accomplish those purposes through us by the aid of the Holy Spirit.
We rejoice because we have been justified by faith - both in the positive news (peace with God and access into His family) and in the difficult news (our suffering). In everything, we rejoice, because God has saved us.
