Main point summary
To Timothy, false prophets are coming, and they will offer you empty promises of good things. These promises will seem rewarding because the Christian life is hard, just look at my [Paul's] life, and the suffering I've endured. Nevertheless, these prophets will eventually fall, and our bodies may fade, but the truth shall endure. For Scripture is the very Word of the everlasting and almighty God. Therefore hold fast to it, just as your mother and grandmother did, and know that in it is everything you need to instruct others so that they too may know and be equipped to resist evil and do good.

h Avoid such people.
THEREFORE, avoid these difficult people.
For among them are i those who creep into households
BECAUSE, these difficult people will sneak into homes
and capture weak women,
FOR THE PURPOSE OF entrapping defenseless women (who don't know better)
burdened with sins
IN OTHER WORDS, women who are overcome with their own guilt and shame

actionpurpose
Just as k Jannes and Jambres l opposed Moses,
FURTHERMORE, JUST LIKE the magicians who sought to contradict Moses
so these men also oppose the truth,
SO TOO are these difficult people who seek to refute what is true
m men corrupted in mind
IN OTHER WORDS, these men who are debased in their minds
and n disqualified regarding the faith.
AND disqualified in their hearts (by their disobedience showing no faith)

But they will not get very far,

for their folly will be plain to all,
BECAUSE the falsity of their teachings will be made out

p You, however, have followed my teaching,

d All Scripture is breathed out by God
FOR Scripture is the very Word of God
and profitable for teaching,
THEREFORE, it is useful for everyting, including to instruct
for reproof,
AND edify
for correction,
AND admonish
and for training in righteousness,
AND to give practical wisdom for doing good
that e the man of God 1 may be complete,
IN ORDER THAT the godly man will be lacking in nothing
f equipped g for every good work.
IN OTHER WORDS that he will have every tool and every confidence to do what is right and godly
Two concessions: 1) False prophets are coming - they will rise for a time, and then they will fall. 2) You will be persecuted, because you desire godliness. Nevertheless, persevere and serve your people, because you have received the book of life and its inheritance from the God of life.
