Main point summary
Righteousness does not come from man's hypocritical conformity to the law, which he does for the applause of others. The law only serves to condemn. Rather, true righteousness and salvation come from an inner working by the Holy Spirit who gives us new hearts and holy desires to seek the delight and fellowship of God alone.
For circumcision indeed is of value
Having the law matters
n if you obey the law,
IF you actually intend to keep it
but if you break the law,
HOWEVER, if you do not intend to keep it/do not actually keep it
your circumcision becomes uncircumcision.
THEN your knowledge of the law condemns you
So, if o a man who is uncircumcised keeps p the precepts of the law,
CONVERSELY, IF a Gentile, truly, follows the law
will not his uncircumcision be regarded 1 as circumcision?
THEN he is counted as righteous
Then he who is physically 1 uncircumcised
FURTHERMORE, this person who is a Gentile (does not have the law)
but keeps the law
BUT is righteous, as Jews ought to be
q will condemn you who have r the written code 2 and circumcision
WILL, AS A RESULT, condemn hypocrites who have the law
but break the law.
YET do NOT obey it!
For s no one is a Jew t who is merely one outwardly,
BECAUSE being chosen by God is not only about what you do
nor is circumcision outward and physical.
NOR is it about what people can see
But a Jew is one u inwardly,
RATHER, being chosen is about what only God can see
and v circumcision is a matter of the heart,
AND about the heart's embrace of God's desires and commands
by the Spirit,
BY the work of the Holy Spirit
not by the letter.
NOT by their false or hypocritical conformity to the law
w His praise is not from man
IN OTHER WORDS, the regenerate person does not care about what the world thinks of him
but from God.
RATHER, he cares, desperately, and only, about what God thinks of him.
