In pointing out these things you will be good servants of Jesus, constantly nourished. Therefore you don't need the wordly fables and can discipline yourself for godliness. We strive for godliness since we have fixed our hope on the living God. We are kingdom oriented more so that physically oriented. Therefore we discipline ourselves for godliness more so than for the body.

In pointing out these things to the brethren,
If you put these things before the brothers,
you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus,
you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus,
constantly nourished on the words of the faith
being trained in the words of the faith
and of the sound doctrine which you have been following.
and of the good doctrine that you have followed.

conditional
But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women.
Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths.
On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness;
Rather train yourself for godliness;
for bodily discipline is only of little profit,
for while bodily training is of some value,
but godliness is profitable for all things,
godliness is of value in every way,
since it holds promise for the present life
as it holds promise for the present life
and also for the life to come.
and also for the life to come.

For it is for this we labor and strive,
For to this end we toil and strive,
because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.
because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.
Prescribe and teach these things.
Command and teach these things.
Let no one look down on your youthfulness,
Let no one despise you for your youth,
but rather ...show yourself an example of those who believe...
but set the believers an example
in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, ...
in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

Do not neglect the gift you have,
which was bestowed on you through prophetic utterance
which was given you by prophecy

Take pains with these things;
Practice these things,
be absorbed in them,
