Main point summary
The Lord is near, therefore, rejoice in him at all times and his peace will guard your heart and mind.
p Rejoice in the Lord always;
again I will say, rejoice.
Let your reasonableness be known to everyone.
q The Lord is at hand;
r do not be anxious about anything,
s but in everything by prayer and supplication t with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known to God.
And u the peace of God, v which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
The nearness of the Lord (5b) leads to two main and great conclusions: 1.) We ought to always rejoice in Him, with great praise and by our actions to others (5a) 2.) Because He is near, if we trust in Him with everything (in prayer and supplication), His peace will protect our hearts and minds from the world. What are you anxious about and have you prayed about it? How often do you think about the reality of the nearness of God in relation to your worldly anxieties?
