Main point summary
Evil will abound, and believers will suffer, which is why we should stay solidly anchored in the word of God, where we find everything we need to do everything God asks.
2 Timothy 3:10-17
But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
[There are godless people in the world, opposing the truth, but] you know what I believe and the way I live it out, with forbearance and generosity.
Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured:
You know about the things I suffered at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra, everything that I went through.
but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
but my Lord brought me through all of those situations.
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
Yes, all followers of Christ will endure those kind of situations.
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
But men of evil intent, perpetrators of suffering, men who lie and are lied to, will multiply.
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of,
But you, believer, keep on keeping on in the truth, the things you know are solid and right,
knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
remembering that you learned these things from others who walked in the truth,
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
remembering the words of the holy scriptures - the words of God - which you've heard and studied since your were young.
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
these words of the holy scriptures will build the kind of knowledge in you that leads to faith in the source of our rescue, Jesus Christ
All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
Every word of scripture is given to us by God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
and teaches us, convicts us, shows us the correct way, and builds us up in the truth,
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
and the result is that we get rid of the bad stuff, and are given all that we need to do anything God asks of us.
Paul's life is an example, an inspiration, and a source of solid evidence of the power of God in a life.
How often do I think about suffering? Do I suffer for Christ, for my faith? In what way?
ANYTHING God asks of me! Goals.
