See inbed note on the progressive connection b/t the 3 main statements in verses 1-2.
Romans 2:1-5
Main Idea: Because of the witness: lay aside, run, look.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Central Idea here is that God is FOR the righteous, and against evildoers.
Psalms 34:15-18
Lot's going on in these few short verses, and I am new to arcing, but here are my thoughts.
John 14:1-4
I believe that the central purpose of this section is that Paul encourage the Corinthians to excel in the area of giving (7c).
2 Corinthians 8:1-9
Paul is not shamed b/c it is the power of God and because in it the righteousness of God is revealed.
Romans 1:16-17
verse 9 really does not belong here, as i think it functions mainly to ground verses 1-8, not verse 9f.
2 Corinthians 8:9-15
A series of questions and answers, the final of which is not answered immediately (verse 9 brings ab...
Romans 3:1-8
1a and 3a are the main thoughts here: 1a is the command--pay close attention 3a--to this great salvation.
Hebrews 2:1-4
Clearly the whole discussion here is of how a person finds righteousness.
Romans 4:1-8
I will never leave you or forsake you grounds what is before and what follows.

Hebrews 12:18-24
The Gospel does not just achieve our forgiveness.
Ephesians 4:17-24
seems like the best place for a paragraph break is not where it is in the ESV text.
Ephesians 4:1-16
Basic flow here: 1.

In light of the arugment just raised (about the advantage of the Jew) the question is posed--are they better off? Emphatically, NO!! Why? Two reasons: 1. (9c-18): they sin....a lot. Paul is verbose is listing, and describing the wickedness of every human heart. though it feels strange to make this a string of Progressives, i think that is what Paul is doing. 2. (19-20): the purpose of the law is to establish guilt--not serve as a standard to gain righteousness (as the Jews had thought). I'm not sure I am correctly associating the connections between the phrases in 19 and 20.

What then? Are we Jews any better off?
No, not at all.
For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin,
as it is written: "None is righteous, no, not one;
no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
All have turned aside;
together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one."
ideaexplanation
"Their throat is an open grave;
they use their tongues to deceive."
"The venom of asps is under their lips."
"Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness."
"Their feet are swift to shed blood;
in their paths are ruin and misery,
and the way of peace they have not known."
"There is no fear of God before their eyes."
Now we know that whatever the law says
it speaks to those who are under the law,
locative
so that every mouth may be stopped,
and the whole world may be held accountable to God.
series
actionpurpose
For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight,
since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
