Intro to Romans: Paul's View of the Gospel
Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus,
1 a called as an apostle,
b set apart for c the gospel of God,
He a promised beforehand
through His b prophets
in the holy Scriptures,
concerning His Son,
who was born a of a 1 descendant of David
b according to the flesh,
who was declared a the Son of God with power 1 by the resurrection from the dead,
according to the 2 Spirit of holiness,
Jesus Christ our Lord,
through whom we have received grace
and a apostleship
1 to bring about the b obedience of faith
among c all the Gentiles for His name’s sake,
you also are the a called of Jesus Christ;
to all who are a beloved of God
called as 1 b saints:
c Grace to you
from God our Father
and the Lord Jesus Christ.
First, a I thank my God
through Jesus Christ
1 for you all,
because b your faith is being proclaimed
throughout the whole world.
For a God, whom I b serve
in my spirit
in the preaching of the gospel of His Son,
is my witness
as to how unceasingly
c I make mention of you,
always in my prayers making request,
if perhaps now at last by a the will of God
I may succeed in coming to you.
For a I long to see you
so that I may impart some spiritual gift to you,
that you may be 1 established;
that is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you,
each of us by the other’s faith,
both yours and mine.
a I do not want you to be unaware, b brethren,
that often I c have planned to come to you
(and have been prevented so far)
so that I may obtain some d fruit among you also,
even as among the rest of the Gentiles.
a I am 1 under obligation
both to Greeks and to b barbarians,
both to the wise and to the foolish.
So, for my part,
I am eager to a preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.
For I am not a ashamed of the gospel,
for b it is the power of God for salvation
to everyone who believes,
to the c Jew first and also to d the Greek.
For in it a the righteousness of God is revealed
1 from faith to faith;
as it is written,
“ 2 b But the righteous man shall live by faith .”
