The person who stands firm in the face of trials and testing is blessed

because when the time comes, as a result of his devoted commitment to God
he will receive v the crown of life,
he will be given the crown of life
w which God has promised to those who love him.
that God promised to all who persevere in seeking to live in loving obedience to him.

Let no one say
It should not be said by anyone,
when he is tempted,
when temptation comes,
“I am being tempted by God,”
that God is to blame for the temptation
for God cannot be tempted with evil,
because God isn't tempted by evil
and he himself tempts no one.
nor does he tempt anyone.

Notes
It's so easy to deny responsibility for our sin, but we need to acknowledge that our own lack of self-control often leads us to cross the line from legitimate thoughts into sinful actions. We are to be intentionally self-controlled and sober-minded, renewing our minds, so that we are able to stand firm in the face of trials, and choose the steadfast life.
