Genesis 1:26-31
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים
Then God said,
נַעֲשֶׂה אָדָם
o “Let us make man 1
בְּצַלְמֵנוּ
in our image,
refers to man as vice-regent; God is king, man is prince.
כִּדְמוּתֵנוּ
p after our likeness.
man is similar to but distinct from God; he is to worship God.

So God created man in his own image,
בְּצֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים בָּרָא אֹתוֹ

t You shall have them for food.
וּלְכָל־חַיַּת הָאָרֶץ וּלְכָל־עוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם וּלְכֹל׀ רוֹמֵשׂ עַל־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר־בּוֹ נֶפֶשׁ חַיָּה אֶת־כָּל־יֶרֶק עֵשֶׂב לְאָכְלָה
And u to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.”
וַיְהִי־כֵן׃
And it was so.
וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים אֶת־כָּל־אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה
v And God saw everything that he had made,
וְהִנֵּה־טוֹב מְאֹד
and behold, it was very good.
וַיְהִי־עֶרֶב וַיְהִי־בֹקֶר יוֹם הַשִּׁשִּׁי׃פ
And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
