Main point summary of 3 John 5-12
John vouches for Demetrius, an itinerant servant of the Gospel, to Gaius, as one who is worthy of economic support, in keeping with the apostle's command to Gaius to not imitate what is evil - an example being what Diotrephes is doing (i.e., refusing to welcome traveling ministers, stopping and even excommunicating brothers who do), but to imitate what is good - just as what Gaius is already doing in faithfully supporting the traveling ministers of the Gospel.

Beloved, it is a faithful thing you do in all your efforts for e these brothers, f strangers as they are,
who testified to your love before the church.
You will do well to send them on their journey in a manner g worthy of God.
For they have gone out for the sake of h the name,
i accepting nothing from the Gentiles.
actionmanner
Therefore we ought to support people like these,
that we may be fellow workers for the truth.

I have written something to the church,

So if I come,

I will bring up what he is doing,

And not content with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers,
and also stops those who want to
and puts them out of the church.
