Notes**
Being religious comes in many forms. However, when a person thinks himself as a religious person, but cannot control his tongue, he simply deceives himself in thinking he is religious, since his religion is worthless to God. Gal 5:23, after all, lists one of the items in the fruit of the Spirit as self-control! On the other hand, in complete antithesis to worthless religion, pure and undefiled religion before God is defined as visiting the lonely people such as widows and orphans and to keep ourselves unstained by the world. In the larger context of Scripture, we recognize that this is the outworking of our faith in Christ.
